Pope Goes the Weasel

In an effort to make his predecessor John Paul II--no raging liberal thinker himself--seem moderate, Pope "You Can't Make a" Benedict "If You Don't Break a Few Eggs" today first attacked gay marriage, claiming, according to the Canadian Press, that "matrimony was not just a 'casual sociological construction' that changed in certain times in history but rather an institution that had its roots 'in the most profound essence of the human being.'" So I guess that means all the marriage stuff through the centuries about dowries and fathers selling their daughters to the highest bidders/best son-in-laws really never happened. Or the Church believes that women as property is part of the most profound essence of the human being.

Then he hit close to my childless home--by our choice--with this preposterous statement before decrying abortion (no big surprise there), "From here it becomes all the more clear how contrary it is to human love, to the profound vocation of man and woman, to systematically close their union to the gift of life." Because if the world needs anything, it's more people.

Benedict must heave a thankful hosanna heavenward to know that he has generations of previous papal bulls procreating just as he wanted.
