Encouraging news! The Brits are as aesthetically challenged and historically ignorant as Americans! Check out Empire Magazine's poll of the Top 40 Directors of All-Time. Yes, that's both Ridley and Tony Scott (I'm sure for helming Top Gun alone). Yes, that's Robert Zemeckis above Fritz Lang, not to mention Anthony Minghella, Ron Howard and Sam Raimi above both Chaplin and Bergman. I mean, I really like The Evil Dead, but let's have some perspective folks.
