Yes, that's a Lucinda Williams cover. Yes, Dave Schramm is the best guitarist no one knows. Not a bad list, and the best is left for the bonus: "And all the comfort in words, provide no comfort. We can all go mad together, that's what friends are for."

Two for the show today. One is a shuffle of recent acquisitions (which is what we did on IIRTZ today) and the other I never got around to posting last Friday. But I had to let George see the title of the Jurado song that shuffled up out of the depths of iTunes' despair.

Last week's bonus got chopped off:

Ah, Ahab, a very apropos Jurado song title.
And did you fork out the money for that entire Merge anniversary box, or did you land the covers CD separately somehow?
Ninja Gun, "Front Yard Screamers, Kitchen Kissers," Restless Rubes
Brian Jonestown Massacre, "Mansion in the Sky," Tepid Peppermint Wonderland: A Retrospective
Sarge, "Dear Josie, Love Robin," Distant
Bootsy's Rubber Band, "Pinnochio Theory," Live in Louisville 1978
Brian Jonestown Massacre, "That Girl Suicide," ditto
Los Camesinos!, "Between an Erupting Earth and an Exploding Sky," We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed

Billy Bragg, "The Passion," Talking with the Taxman about Poetry,
Ola Podrida, "Cindy," Ola Podrida
Bonus: Gillian Welch, "Whiskey's Girl," Hell Among the Yearlings
Starts strong with Ninja Gun, then bumps around that good Sarge tune, then ends with a nice set from Rilo on.
If you don't know my friends from Ninja Gun, check out this interview. If Coody's answer to the first question doesn't make you a rabid fan, nostalgia for Rove has taken over your brain.

Now Pavement. The nice run continues. . . (blog coming, George; they replaced my computer this week and I'm adjusting.)
oops. Los Campesinos! Just a segue song, but a great band. Oh, and Ninja met Willie Nelson by chance.

it all runs together.

2. "Almost Crimes" Broken Social Scene / You Forgot it in People
3. "Game of Broken Hearts" Tarnation / Gentle Creatures

The line break thing is fixed. I previewed, saw that, and had to tediously remove the br tags.
George, I thought you'd like the Jurado title. And I got the plain old Merge 20th anniversary CD. I forget how. It was a limited edition, I think. I've been on a CD tear for months, it's all fading together. I'll share it with you. I finally read some mail and even paid my bills a couple of days ago, so music chores are next. Honest.
