Danny Thompson "Idle Monday" Whatever
The Handsome Family "My Beautiful Bride" In the Air
The Wailers "Out of Our Tree" Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era
Los Lobos "The Word" Good Morning Aztlan
Charlie Parker "Hot House" Ken Burns Jazz: Charlie Parker

The 6ths (with Dean Wareham) "Falling Out of Love (with You)" Wasps' Nests

bonus
Brian Eno "Out/Out" The Drop

Starts with a killer instrumental, ends with a great one from the mind of Stephin Merritt, and let's consider the 2 minute Eno coda the music over the end credits. Quite a range in here, quite a range. You could say I'm home on it.

Pavement, "Sue Me Jack," Slanted and Enchanted, L & R
Tom Waits, "I'm Still Here," Alice
Buzzcocks, "Walking Distance," I Don't Mind the Buzzcocks
New Pornographers, "Jackie, Dressed in Cobras," Twin Cinema
Pavement, "Brinx Job," Wowee Zowee, SSE
Jason Richie and New Blood, "Doin' Time in the Blues Penitentiary," Live 05/06/05
Muse, "Sunburn," Showbiz
Arcade Fire, "In the Backseat," Funeral
Guided by Voices, "Wished I Was a Giant," Live in LA Video (from GBV website)
Interpol, "PDA," Turn on the Bright Lights

Bonus: Guided By Voices, "The Top Chick's Silver Chord," Tonics and Twisted Chasers

The second random ten, as I type, is sounding more appealing than the first, above. Weird list, with that "passionate and loud" (RS) Muse coming back two weeks in a row, the odd instrumental Buzzcocks, and a tasty live Jason Richie. Tom Waits sad by his piano save it for me, and the "Jackie" is good, because I can here Neko Case in the background. George's list provides a nice balance to all the classic heavy hitters today.

Good job hitting on songs I really really like that generally aren't considered folk's highlights--"Just Like You" has long had a soft spot in my heart and I like "Jackie" not just for Neko but for Dan Bejar. His songs are always highlights of NP albums.
