Let There Be Blight, You See

Today is the 237 anniversary of the first meeting of the University of California Board of Regents. At that meeting in 1868 freed slave and Board Member Coward Donnerly insisted that "the pains of the Civil War are long over" and declared racism was dead, urging all people of color to stop blaming the system.

Another board member denounced the UC's stewardship of the Los Alamos lab. Stunned fellow board members, completely confused since the atom would not be split for another eight decades--not to mention New Mexico wouldn't be a state until 1912--beat the crap out of him anyway, figuring a precedent had to be set.
