Playlisted Off 2 AM

Guess when this got put together. After a crazy full day ending with free Chopin vodka (seems it's worth blogging about them if you want to get some free), it's hard to go straight to bed. Plus certain themes suggest themselves....

Fountains of Wayne "Mexican Wine"
Crooked Fingers "New Drink for the Old Drunk"
Lucinda Williams "Drunken Angel"
The Buckets "I'm Drunk"
Los Lobos "I Got Loaded"
Richard Thompson "Drinking Wine Spo-Dee-o-Dee"
Tom Waits "Jockey Full of Bourbon"
Helium "Ocean of Wine"
Minus 5 "I Was Drunk"
Magnetic Fields "Too Drunk to Dream"
Lloyd Cole "Weeping Wine"
Lou Reed "The Last Shot"
Uncle Tupelo "I Got Drunk"
Evan Dando & Sabrina Brook "Summer Wine"
Richard & Linda Thompson "Down Where the Drunkards Roll"
The Handsome Family "So Much Wine"

So, all together, that's nearly three weeks' worth of themed musical quizzes for me.

Thanks, boys!

Where's Bob Pollard, the beer-drunk god of rock and roll?

(And another Replacements, "Here Comes a Regular" comes to mind. Nice Sad Bastard list. . .)

This list is what happens when you rely on iTunes to search and not for your mind to work. It really was 2 am when I did this. Perhaps Pollard has never written a song (at least of the couple hundred of his thousands of songs in my iTunes) with the word drunk or wine or whiskey in it?

That's why the Mats aren't here, but I love that song to no end, so it should be. The cool thing is this 20 song list is almost exactly 70 minutes so burns nicely onto CD.

I don't know if Pollard sings about beer as much as he sings through it. . .
