Living Like a Hollywood
Gorgeous version of one of my favorite John Cale songs that will set up a review of the Decemberists with the LA Phil (strings!) at the Hollywood Bowl (practically Hollywood and Vine!!)I'm going to post at some point tonight.

This was an out-take of "Spinal Tap," right?
Anon, you have this clip confused with Cale's version of "Heartbreak Hotel." Which was a Spinal Tap out-take since Cale actually can sing in key.
This is from Later With Jools Holland, november 26, 1992.
Great find.
Possibly my favorite Cale song - certainly my favorite to perform - but I think the strings just muddy it up. I keep trying to like this version, but I can't. Solo piano was the way to go.
The studio version is pretty awful - at least this is better than that.
